Instruction for Ladies at SHGC

Welcome to the SHGC Ladies Instructional Program! We are excited to provide you with another season of group and private instruction tailored to make learning fun and successful for our women members!

So, whether you are new to golf, trying to drop your handicap or ready to win the club championship, we have a learning program for you to have fun at Sankaty Head Golf Club this season!

Instruction Details At A Glance

 

Weekly Skills Clinics & On-Course Clinics

 

Skills Clinics: Thursday Mornings

9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

​

On-Course Clinics: Sunday Evenings

4:30-5:30 p.m.

 

 

Skills Clinics focus on improving swing technique while teaching you how to master different golf shots to improve your overall game. 

​

On-Course Clinics take you right onto the playing environment to help you improve critical areas to playing better such as aim, set up for various lies, decision making, target selection, and navigating all the challenges the course can present. These clinics will also address rules and etiquette FAQ.

​

Both the skills and on-course clinics will cover all major areas of the game throughout the year including:

 

  • Driving

  • Approach Shots

  • Chipping & Pitching

  • Putting

  • Bunkers

  • Specialty Shots

Operation 36 Ladies' Play Days

​

Wednesday Evenings 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

 

We welcome all ladies to join Jennifer & Chelsea on the course for a fun 9 hole round. All players will start at division 1 (25 yard tee box) and move back 25 yards each time they play if they can shoot 36 or better for 9 holes. A fun way to learn and be with your friends on the course!

Short Game Schools

 

Wednesday, July 3rd: 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Friday, August 23rd: 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

 

 

Short Game schools are open to all members of Sankaty Head ages 18 and over. They are designed for golfers who are ready to focus on the most important part of every golf game--putting, chipping, bunker play & putting. Short game schools will focus on:

 

  • Chipping--know your chipping system and use it!

  • Pitching--focus on key distances 

  • Bunker Play-- control distance, learn how to hit from any situation

  • Putting--including technique and greens reading

 

School Registration Fee & RSVP Information

 

  • $120 for 3 hours of Instruction

  • 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio

  • Minimum of 4 students myst be registered by 24 hours in advance for school to take place.

LifeLong Golf Schools: Two-Day Ladies' Golf School

Thursday, August 8th-Friday, August 9th

Wednesday, September 4th-Thursday, September 5th

​

 

Golf schools are open to all members of Sankaty Head ages 18 and over. They are designed for golfers who want to take a more focused approach to understanding their technique, game management and learn how to score lower.  2019 golf school themes include:

 

  • Swing Like An Athlete: Learn how to create a powerful, effective and effortless swing by using your body like an athlete!

  • Becoming A Better Player: Focus on the skills you need to be a player but getting on the golf course and learning! This school will focus on course management and teach you how to sharpen your mental game.

 

School Registration Fee & RSVP Information

 

  • $120 for 3 hours of Instruction

  • 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio

LifeLong Golf School: Featured Instructor School

Welcome Top Ranked LET/LPGA Tour Player Beth Allen!

 

Friday, July 19th & Saturday, July 20th

​

 

This year we are excited to welcome LET/LPGA Tour player Beth Allen to give our members special insight on how to be a great player. Beth is a three time Ladies' European Tour Player (LET) and was the #1 ranked player on the LET in 2016. Golfer's Boot Camp

 

Friday, June 21st: 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Friday, August 30th: 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

​

 

Boot Camps are geared towards golfers looking to improve their knowledge of equipment, the rules, and how to play the game. Boot camps will incorporate stretches, exercise and drills to help you become better in every area of your game.

 

  • Great for beginner to intermediate players.

  • Introduces the best of stretching and fitness for your game!

  • $80 for two hours of instruction
